Brooklyn Heights Apartment

Brooklyn, NY
Major Renovation

MARTOS served as the structural designers for this Brooklyn Heights apartment renovation aimed to rethink the space more holistically, both inside and outside. The renovated structure is an apartment which occupies the top two floors, and roof deck of an existing four-story brick bearing wall and timber framed town house with full basement and cellar. Working with the talented team at CWB Architects and unparalleled Landscape Architect, Liz Pulver, a seamless transition between the updated home and the new terrace was created. The terrace space has since become a new outdoor room for the clients which provides them with space to relax, entertain and garden.

Our structural consultation was primarily focused on the removal of a load-bearing wall between the existing family room and office, modifications to the existing stair opening framing between the two floors and the creation of a new stair and bulkhead to access the roof deck.
