MARTOS engineers Got to see the formation of the circular motif as the steel went up at our Greene Avenue project. This project is the future site of the Tribeca Pediatrics Bushwick, Brooklyn location, designed by the incomparable OPeRA Studio Architecture team. MARTOS is providing the structural design services for the duration of the project. The architectural design is centered around a circle motif, which is immediately recognized upon entering the structure. Patients will be greeted with a circular opening located on the center of a 20’x20’ seamless steel square façade. The building is designed to have a play and waiting area, four exam rooms, nurse station, sick bay and a mezzanine office level that is accessible via a spiral staircase at the rear.
The structural system being used will consist of light gage metal studs spanning a two-story height supporting metal C-joists roof framing. The lateral system will consist of front, rear, and intermediate steel brace frames concealed within cylindrical wall finishes.
An important element of the structural design is the evaluation and reinforcement of the original rubble wall foundations for reuse in order to avoid the construction of new foundations and subsequent support of excavation designs.
